Criteria for Pieces 1-4a. 3 pages in length minimum
b. Times New Roman 12 pt. Font c. Original to the class (no pieces used for other classes) d. No cheap plot devices (e.g. sudden death) e. All pieces should be separate entities (e.g. although the pieces may be from the same novel, the submissions need to be separate chapters or parts) f. The four pieces should include 1 poem submission, 1 narrative submission, 2 student choice submission g. All pieces due on assigned duedates and will be shared/critiqued on duedate. Criteria for Reflective Piecea. Best piece should be selected
b. Reflection should include artistic choices made c. Why author considers piece the best piece d. What author learned from the process e. Writing should be in essay form, including thesis, transitions, support material, and conclusion f. Students should consider the Reflection as Option 1 of their FINAL EXAM OR CRITERIA for MANIFESTO The following items should bew included in the Writers' Manifesto (in whatever order you see fit) a. Purpose of Writing needs to be highlighted b. What defines good writing vs. "just writing" c. Methodology to obtaining good writing d. Writer who exemplifies good writing e. Writing should be in essay form, including thesis, transistions, support material and conclusion. f. Students should consider the Manifesto as Option 2 of their FINAL EXAM Criteria for Lessonsa. Students to present on minimum 3 preselected topics from "Crossroads" on preassigned day (See Calendar)
b. Lessons are to be 15-30 minutes in length c. Lessons should have a visual and/or technical element d. Lessons should have minimum 1 activity e. Presenters should be able to answer questions on topic as needed f. Notes are encouraged from other members of the class Criteria for Conferencesa. Students should have Final Piece plus any rough draft versions available
b. Students should use the 6 + 1 Criteria in discussion c. Students should be able to answer orally the items under the Reflective Piece d. Students should consider conferences as Oral Reflections that will assist in preparing them for Final Exam; notes during conferences are suggested e. After the Conference Students should create a one page post conference summary / reaction f. Conferences will come into six categories: Individual, Pair, Student to Student (S2S), Individual one way (I1W), Written Response, and Roundtable. Each Conference will refer to the work most recently submitted. Types of ConferencingIndividual- Teacher and Student conversing over writing
Pair- Teacher and Students conversing over writing Student to Student- Students conversing over writing; teacher listening Individual one way- Author conversing over writing; teacher listening Written Response - Student writing critique on presented writing Roundtable- Socratic Seminar Format regarding "best" writing Criteria for Roundtablea. Students should employ the 6 + 1 Traits in the conversation about others written work.
b. Students should employ any information gathered during the lessons. c. The Roundtable will be a discussion regarding the "Best" Work of each student and be conducted as a socratic seminar. d. Focused participation is graded positively; unfocused participation will result in negative points. |
