Ars Dramatica
Everyone has a manifesto; whether it is in writing or on the expressions of the face, it is the very nature that we hold inside of us. Drama too has a purpose, a manifesto and reasoning behind it. Anyone who has spent anytime behind the curtain learns very quickly that theatre is oh so much more than a bunch of people just having a good time... Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good times; why else would anyone submit themselves to the torture of the arts. But because it is ostensibly fun does not automatically mean that it is lacking in purpose and meaning. It is not a cosmos of floating chaotic whatevers, even if it may look this way from the point of view from the outsider. It is, as so many will attest, the toughest and most rewarding job out there. Because it is so personal and transformative, and in some respects, so enjoyable, it just seems as if it is not.
Many have attempted manifestos of sorts, Tadeusz Kantor, probably being the most famous in the theatrical arts. This is my attempt.
