Age of Absolutism and Revolution
Part 0 (10 points)
Set Up:
Every student should have pulled up their PowerPoints and questions prepared for today.
Part I (20 points)
Answer a total of 20 questions from at least 4 PowerPoints. Be sure to label the title of the PowerPoint and the number of the question. Before answering any questions, you must read through the entire PowerPoint. You may not talk to anyone for answers.
Part II (60 points)
Write Paragraphs on the following topics. You may interview the student who created the PowerPoint, but they can only give you background info for your paragraph or you may read through prepared powerpoints; so prepare questions that would get background info. Be sure to have a thesis in each paragraph. Be sure to have historical facts to back up your thesis. Without either of these items, no points will be awarded. Additional points will be given to students who demonstrate knowledge gained from studying (i.e. if information is given by the student from the book, but not necessarily in the slideshow).
a. The effects of Peter the Great on the building up of Russia.
b. The results of the beheadings of three members of royalty
c. The economic reasons for revolution and the reaction of the society as a whole
d. Comparison of three absolute monarchs
e. Comparison of three revolutionary leaders
f. How science and religion relate to each other
Part III (10 points)
Answer: Was the French Revolution more or less of a revolution than the American one? Explain your answer using details from history.
Part IV (100 points) at home prepare to give a presentation using on someone else’s powerpoint (you must sign up before leaving the class). The presentation should last 5 minutes and add details and explanations to what the other student had created. Presenters should be prepared to answer questions. The presentations will be timed and the ability to answer questions knowledgeably will be graded. Part IV of the test is due on the following class period.
Total test: 100 points in class; 100 points take home = 200 points.
